05/11/12 The Philadelphia Jackals continue to add credibility to their program by adding a second Tier I Affiliation. The Carleton Place Canadians are a Tier I Jr. 'A' Hockey team whom
play in the CCHL (Central Canadian Hockey League). Last season the Canadians
had a 41-18 record, finishing 4th out of 12 teams. The Canadians have had the
following players commit to the following schools in 2011: Ben Murphy, 2012
Bowling Green University; Dustin Darou, 2012 Northeastern University;
Dan Kolenda, 2012 Niagara University; Theo Hannah, 2012 Amherst College and
Jay Llewelyn, 2012 Robert Morris University. "We feel by adding the Canadians
on as another Tier I Jr. 'A' affiliate allows more teams to have direct contact and scouting of our players to be called up to the next level. Last year we had a successful affiliation with the Mississauga Chargers of the OJHL Tier I and this year we will have two teams to move our players to in the future and during the season," stated Coach Simmons.
"I believe we will see players come from the Jackals organization and players will come through Jimi Simmons and his coaching staff. Jimi was our USA Scout with the Ottawa Jr. Senators when I was the head coach with them back in the 2004-05 season. So our relationship with one another goes back a ways and we both feel confident in that we will have a great dual-working relationship between both teams," stated Carleton Place Canadians GM/Head Coach, Jason Clarke.
05/08/12 The Jr. Jackals will have an opportunity to see former NCAA and Major Jr. players as they will be
attending the Pro Rookie Placement Camp,
which for the past 4 years was held by
Jimi Simmons in Elmira, NY. The PRPC
first originated in Delaware/PA. back in
2005 and this year, it is being brought back
to Philadelphia, PA.
"We make sure we select the best
players possible, as we are only as good as
the last players we have placed. The answer
to the question; 'how easy is it to get placed'
is that of skill of the player and level last played. Our 'Alumni' speaks for itself and yes, it is much easier to place players working in Pro Hockey as our contacts know what we look for in players at this level. We will have Pro GM's, Coaches and Scouts from the ECHL, CHL, SPHL and FHL, as well as having the camp televised for those unable to attend," stated PRPC Director, Jimi Simmons.
05/07/12 The Jackals have signed 6' 01" 178 lb. defenseman, Sharkov
Maksim from Russia. "We are very excited about having Sharkov come
and play for our team in the 2012-13 season. "We have brought Olegs
Koreskovs, whom is a player consultant over in Europe on as our European
Scout, as he has many players that are looking at the many diverse avenues
in which we offer players," stated Coach Simmons.
